Marinduque State College (MSC) is the lone state college at the heart of the Philippines - the province of Marinduque. In June of 2019, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act (RA) 11334 converting MSC into a State University. MSC was founded by former Congressman Panfilo M. Manguera Sr in 1952 when RA 805 was signed by the then President Elpidio Quirino creating the Marinduque School of Arts and Trades. Years later, it was elevated into the Marinduque Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) during the term of former Congresswoman Carmencita O. Reyes who initiated its conversion into an institute. Cong. Reyes was also instrumental in converting MIST into a State College. In 2019, MSC was granted SUC Level III status under the leadership of SUC President III. Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, Ed.D, CESE. MSC has four campuses and one extramural study center in the province. It has 11 Schools namely: The School of Allied Medicine, The School of Education, The School of Engineering, The School of Information & Computing Sciences, The School of Industrial Technology, The School of Arts and Sciences, The School of Agriculture, The School of Fisheries and Natural Sciences, The School of Business and Management and The Institute of Criminal Justice Education, and the Graduate School.
