San Pedro College (SPC) was founded in 1956 as a School of Nursing of San Pedro Hospital, the first Catholic hospital in Mindanao. It became a college in 1973 when the government granted its permit to offer 4-year degree programs: BS Nursing, BS Biology and BS Guidance and Counselling.
After more than a half-century of existence, SPC remains steadfast and true to its commitment of providing quality education to its students. In addition, SPC has expanded its program offerings in response to the ever-changing demand and needs of the local community, the country, and the world. The college now offers 2 Ph.D Programs, 9 Master’s Programs, 13 Baccalaureate Programs, 1 TESDA Program and a complete Basic Education with Senior High School offering Academic Tracks.
In 1997, the SPC was recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) as one of the Centers of Excellence in Nursing Education. Having a pool of highly qualified and competent faculty and personnel, SPC has maintained its status as one of the top performing higher education institution (HEI) based on its outstanding performance in licensure examinations in: Medical Technology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Guidance and Counselling and Teacher Education. To date, SPC has already produced a total of 212 topnotchers in board examinations.
San Pedro College is globally competitive. It is listed by CHED as one of the few colleges and universities in Region XI that can accept foreign students. For this SPC has been granted accreditation by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) since 2001.
