The Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) was established 1960. The RUPP is Cambodia’s oldest and largest university after Angkor era. In 2018, RUPP hosts more than 19611 students and has 972 full time staff, across a diverse range of undergraduate graduate and PhD programs. It is unique in Cambodia for offering specialist degrees in fields including the sciences, engineering, humanities, education, development studies, foreign languages and social sciences. Due to its many achievements, RUPP is the first university in Cambodia with full membership of the ASEAN University Network (AUN).

With the cooperation with some universities in Europe, Asia and US, until now we have 105 active MoUs with international universities. Furthermore, RUPP provides staff exchange programs and scholarships to university faculties and students to get experiences and pursue their Master and Ph-D’s degree overseas. RUPP is also a member of the AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) and University Mobility in Asia and the Pacific(UMAP).


RUPP has two campuses (i.e., main campus and campus II) both of which are renowned for their Spaciousness and greenery in the capital of Phnom Penh. Both campuses are situated along the Russian Federation Boulevard about 3 and 7 kilometers respectively away from the Central Market, another unique and historic ART DECO which opened in 1937.
