List of study programs that are open for international exchanges
|Content||Intensive Japanese Language Program:
This program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students currently studying outside Japan, who have intermediate level Japanese proficiency and wish to improve their Japanese language skills. Students are required to take 5 mandatory Japanese language courses worth 8 credits. Students may also take up to 2 liberal arts courses of their choice.
SWU Academic Program:
This program is designed for undergraduate and graduate students currently studying outside Japan, who have upper-intermediate level Japanese proficiency and wish to improve their Japanese language skills. Students are required to take at least 7 liberal arts courses that are open to them.
Both programs are offered in both Fall and Spring semesters (15 weeks each), and students have the choice of applying to either 1 or 2 semesters.

The Hirao Scholarship Program
The Hirao Scholarship Program was established through a donation from Mr. Koji Hirao, a current faculty member of SWU who served as its fourth Chancellor. The program aims to provide financial assistance to international students from the Southeast Asia region who wish to study at SWU.
|Cost of living||
Estimated living cost per month excluding Housing Fee$ 400 - 500 per month
All students will sign up for the National Health Insurance, one of Japan's pubic health insurance programs. A monthly cost is approximately 2,000 yen per month.
After arrival, SWU Japanese students help international students with the necessary paperwork.
|Visa Process||SWU prepares necessary documents for students to acquire a visa. SWU sends the documents to students. After the students receive them, they go to the embassy to complete the procedure for their visa.|
Please inform prospective dates of acceptance if the dates would be later than UMAP's Timeline for onlire placement period. It helps students to choose their preferences.
